Columbus, OH: TECH CORPS has named Alexis Crosby as its new Northeast Ohio Regional Director. Crosby will oversee TECH CORPS’ day-to-day programming in Northeast Ohio including managing and supporting TECH CORPS programs and volunteers. She will also be charged with expanding the impact of the organization throughout the region.
Crosby is a recent graduate of Case Western Reserve University and native of Cleveland, Ohio. She has extensive experience recruiting and managing volunteers and organizing informal educational experiences for K-12 students.
“Alexis’ professional experience, her commitment to student success and her love of Cleveland and Northeast Ohio made her the ideal candidate for this position,” said Lisa M. Chambers, TECH CORPS National Director. “I know that she will bring great ideas to the organization as we work to expand the impact of TECH CORPS in the region.”
With support from JPMorgan Chase Foundation and Time Warner Cable, TECH CORPS began its expansion into the region in 2012 by piloting two of its five signature programs. Since that time, hundreds of Northeast Ohio students have participated in TECH CORPS’ Techie Club or Techie Camp programs. The organization has also formed a Regional Steering Committee, comprised of some of the region’s brightest community leaders, to guide and support the work of TECH CORPS in the region.
“Having a full-time Regional Director in Northeast Ohio means we can open up our entire program portfolio,” said Chambers. “Thus, allowing more students the opportunity to participate in TECH CORPS programs designed to educate, excite and empower students with technology!”
“TECH CORPS programs reach children at a critical age and provide them with the skills and experiences that will aid them far into their future,” said Crosby. “I am excited to join the TECH CORPS team and look forward to working with more partners in Northeast Ohio.”
This summer, TECH CORPS will offer more than 20 Techie Camps in Cuyahoga and Lorain counties and has plans to hire more than 10 technology instructors. For more information visit www.techcorps.org
